The location makes De Grote Waaij special. On the edge of the village of Well, between Nijmegen and Venlo, bordering De Maasduinen National Park, the farm lies in a landscape that invites walking, cycling, and relaxation. The courtyard is a place where the silence of the farmstead is palpable, with views of the greenery and historical facades. It is a wonderful base for those who want a few days away, for peace seekers, nature lovers, or guests who have something to celebrate. Of course, business guests are also very welcome.
Stay overnight
De Grote Waaij has ten rooms and two apartments, each with its own atmosphere and plenty of comfort. The rooms are bright, quiet, and designed for a pleasant stay. During their stay, guests can make use of the yoga studio, gym, and infra-smart sauna, all located within the building.
We welcome guests who want to explore nature, couples looking for a few days of peace, and families or groups of friends who want to spend time together. You can book a single room or rent the entire building. In both cases, a relaxed stay is central, with attention to comfort and a warm welcome.

De Grote Waaij is a characterful courtyard farm with a rich history. Inside, you can see the thick walls, old beams, and details that recall the time when this was a brewery and inn. Outside, you experience the space and tranquility of the Limburg landscape. The garden, the courtyard, and the surrounding greenery make it a place where you naturally slow down.
Due to its spacious layout, the farm is suitable for different types of guests. Those who want to head into nature can walk straight to the dike or the hiking trails along the Meuse. Those who prefer to stay on the grounds will find plenty of places to sit, read, or enjoy the silence. The combination of history, comfort, and peace makes De Grote Waaij unique in this region.
About us
We are Mariëlle Elstgeest and Arno de Fuijk, born and raised in Sassenheim in the Dune and Bulb Region. The desire arose for us to make a new start elsewhere in the country. North Limburg stole our hearts years ago. We have been here often and it never bores us. A beautiful region with various possibilities for relaxation and activities.
Our eye fell on the historic courtyard farm De Grote Waaij. Since December 2024, we have been enthusiastically running this charming Bed & Breakfast with comfortable rooms where guests feel Well-come.
Meetings & events
An atmospheric space is available in the farmhouse for small (business) gatherings. The room has a historical character and is suitable for groups of approximately 5 to 16 people.
The possibilities are diverse: meetings, workshops, or multi-day courses are all options. During your use of the space, we are happy to provide food and drinks so that you can fully focus on the content of the day. Of course, it is also possible to stay overnight.
Discovering the area
The area around De Grote Waaij offers many opportunities to get out and about. De Maasduinen are close by, with walking and cycling routes through forests, along water, and through the open landscape.
There are also several beautiful trips to be found in the region. Thanks to its location between Nijmegen and Venlo, it is a great base for a few days away.
